Introduction

secure portable payment terminals means we have a sound understanding of the requirements
of hospitality clients, to ensure the right hardware platform is provided to integrate
into pay-at-table Chip and PIN solutions. All Thyron’s hospitality solutions for
Chip and PIN are built around their flexible PayCell® MPT 500 series portable transaction
terminals.
Integrated pay-at-table Chip and PIN solutions
Thyron’s PayCell® MPT 510 802.11b wireless LAN terminals have been successfully
integrated into leading hospitality EPOS systems. The PayCell® MPT 510 links seamlessly
with back office EFT-based software and EPOS tills to provide a complete portable
solution for recalling table information, taking and settling the Chip and PIN card
transaction at the table and passing the transaction details back to the EPOS, all
over a Wireless LAN infrastructure.
Pre-configured Solution - Chip & Sim
This solution consists of Thyron’s GPRS enabled PayCell® MPT 500 terminal, docked
in its integral charging cradle. The cradle in turn is interfaced to the EPOS via
a standard serial interface. The EPOS system passes the transaction amount from
the EPOS to the PayCell® MPT 500 through the serial interface, to the terminal via
an IRDA link in the charging cradle. The PayCell® MPT 500 is then taken to the table
where the card transaction is authorised directly by the Banking networks using
GPRS. The PayCell® MPT 500 is then taken back to the charging cradle and "docked".
As soon as the terminal connects to the charging cradle the transaction result is
sent back to the EPOS. Thyron’s Chip & Sim is accredited by all the major UK
banks and is supported by a wide range of EPOS manufacturers and EPOS software packages.
Pre-configured Solution - Chip & Tip
The Chip & Tip solution has been built around Thyron’s PayCell® MPT 510 802.11b
wireless LAN terminals and provides a simple to install, but robust solution for
all Hospitality environments. Chip & Tip leverages existing or new IP based
connectivity such as ADSL, to deliver Chip and PIN transactions to Internet-based
transaction processing managed services. This provides an easy to install, highly
available and cost effective pay at table solution with minimal communications costs.
Chip & Tip can be provided in a simple stand alone environment that can be readily
bolted onto hospitality clients such as hotels or coffee shops, that may already
have Wireless LAN Hot Spots. Conversely Chip & Tip can be linked directly to
EPOS based systems using the PayCell® MPT charging cradle interfaced to the EPOS
to send transaction amounts directly to the payment terminal to avoid manual key
entry mistakes.
